The father of former WBO super bantamweight titlist, Isaac Dogboe, Paul
Dogboe, has revealed that his son injured his ankle during a training
session, delaying his return to the ring.
Paul, who led his son to attain world title status in 2018, noted that
Dogboe sustained the injury during an outdoor training on the mountains
in Calabasas, California.
He, however, described it as a minor setback in his son’s career as it
could rule out his expected return on November 30 against the former
world champion, Carl Frampton.
In a video, Paul confirmed that Dogboe’s chances of making a quick
return next month has been ruined by the injury but downplayed its
seriousness.
“Isaac Dogboe just had a little ankle injury when we went outdoors to
train. He stepped on a rock and fell when we were on the mountains
training in Calabasas, it is just a minor setback and everybody is
downhearted,” Paul said.
Dogboe, 25, is looking forward to coming back from two consecutive
defeats at the hands of Mexico’s Emanuel Navarrete which saw him losing
his WBO super bantamweight crown.
The Ghanaian fighter, who is currently based in California ahead of his
return to the ring, could see his fight with English boxer Frampton
cancelled after his injury.
