In the voice of most Kumasi-based up and coming rappers otherwise known as underground rappers, it’s difficult making it in Kumasi. Thus, staying in either Accra or Tema is the very best only if one wants to make good name in the music business.
Recently, rapper Amerado made Ghanaians especially his admirers privy that he has moved to Accra because staying in Kumasi for decades couldn’t help him blow.
Not only Amerado has this perception about Kumasi as Flowkingstone too has reiterated similar sentiment in his past interviews. But it looks like rapper Ypee who’s Kumasi-based thinks otherwise.
Ypee in an interview with KA television stated categorically that he isn’t going to move to Accra like some of his peers as Accra too can boast of several up and coming musicians.
To the best knowledge of Ypee, if Accra can boast of several up and coming musicians who’ll struggling to be heard, then what’s the guarantee that moving from Kumasi to join them will make a significant difference?
Although Ypee didn’t make reference to any Kumasi-based musician who has moved to Accra in his dialogue, yet the exclusion of Amerado from the list is unpardonable.
